Idiot Box

Quote of the day: “You have the right to remain stupid. No one can take that pleasure from you.” — Professor Ljubisa Adamovich, commenting on people who run for president of the United States just so they can put in on their resume

So over the last two days I’ve played more Halo than previously combined. Okay, maybe not, but I’ve played a lot of Halo, let’s put it that way. After Navs on Thursday (which was hot, more on that in a minute) I played for about 3 hours at Kyle & Scott’s place, and on Friday I played for 6 (!!!) hours over at Tony’s place.

I really had that glazed look after yesterday. You see, I have no classes on Fridays. So I slept in until 1 PM. I went to Tony’s at 2 PM and stayed until 8 PM. Got dinner and went to Camp Special where we watched The Fugitive. So my eyes were glued to an idiot box (as my dad calls our family TV) for about 8 hours yesterday. I could feel my intelligence dropping by the minute. After a while I was just growling and rummaging around on all fours.

But to further backtrack, Thursday night was testimony night at Nav Night. I’ve got to say, it was one of the more encouraging meetings all year. It feels good to know that, even if God is just perceiving my thoughts from afar (Ps 139:2) that he’s up close and personal with so many others. Especially being in Religion & Its Critics where we’re starting to read Carl Marx, who says God is dead and that we killed him. It’s great to know that God is very much alive and well.

Oh, and finally, the last thing announced at Nav Night this week was that Paul & Brittney Harlacher are having a baby! Woo hoo!!

This morning was spent back at Camp Special for the first of many Saturday practices. We got a lot done, and even put together a hot arrangement of Amazing Grace. Now, anyone who knows me knows that I think Amazing Grace is the most overplayed song ever, and that the only version I like at this point is Grace Like Rain. Well, our version is pretty fun, so I’m going to have to make an addition to that list. I think the best thing is that it finally feels like we’re gellin’ (like a felon) as a team.

That’s it for me. To you all I wish a Happy Valentines Day (and Singles Awareness Day and Rob Hodges Day ).
