Addicted To Darts

Quote of the day: “You may have a hangover but that’s no excuse! You must know what is GDP.” — Professor Ljubisa Adamovich, attempting to stress the importance of grasping the concept of gross domestic product

So I have a new addiction. All year I’ve been doing this Coke Music raffle thing, and recently I won an electronic dart board. Andy and I put it up this weekend and I’ve been playing it nonstop ever since. It’s probably annoying my suitemates like nothing else I’ve ever done, which is saying something I promise you.

If you noticed the book I’m reading then you’re probably worried about me. Or you know that I’m taking Religion & Its Critics (or Atheism 101 as I call it). Listen, I thought Schleiermacher was a nut. I thought Feuerbach was a nut. But I know that Marx is a nut.

Wisdom & Horses

Quote of the day: “When I was a kid I used to pray for a horse. Andy prayed for wisdom and he got it.” — Carrie Campbell. During our Ministry Team Bible study on the Holy Spirit this evening my roommate Andy Larkin was in a zone, having prepared very well, he answered many questions that other people had. During one of his explanations Andy mentioned that when he was younger he used to pray for a spirit of wisdom.

Halo-ed Out

I’m officially Halo-ed out. Too much being shot and not enough shooting others. I’m on Halo sabbatical until further notice. My stock as a human being just went up.

A Slightly Unsociable Key

this can cause you to fall over your own feet.
A slightly unsociable key: why Cb major when
you could be the identical B major? It has less

Idiot Box

Quote of the day: “You have the right to remain stupid. No one can take that pleasure from you.” — Professor Ljubisa Adamovich, commenting on people who run for president of the United States just so they can put in on their resume

So over the last two days I’ve played more Halo than previously combined. Okay, maybe not, but I’ve played a lot of Halo, let’s put it that way. After Navs on Thursday (which was hot, more on that in a minute) I played for about 3 hours at Kyle & Scott’s place, and on Friday I played for 6 (!!!) hours over at Tony’s place.

Lite Brownies

Quote of the day: “Lite brownies are hardly anything real.” — Professor David Kangas, in an attempt to explain… something in yesterday’s lecture regarding Feuerbach

Super Bowl Thoughts

Did anyone else think the Super Bowl commercials were pretty lame this year? There were a couple of good ones. The Budweiser one with the donkey was probably the best, sadly. The Homer Simpson one for MasterCard was good. Let me know what you thought was the best
commercial.

Fortunately I missed the half time show. I was playing foosball at the time, so I didn’t get to see Janet Jackson’s nipple piercing. Aww shucks. I’d like to point out that there are guys who paid money to see women play football in their underwear during the halftime show. I bet they feel robbed.

The game itself followed the bad/good Super Bowl pattern that started back at SB 31. That one was bad (and I’m not saying it was bad because of who won, but it was bad because the game was boring). Next year’s will be boring again. Hopefully the Dolphins will be blowing someone out.

Courage

So this past weekend I went to a Navigator Collegiate Gathering. We had Navs from FSU, UF, UCF, and USF. It was quite an experience. The speakers were tremendous, the workshops were informative, heck, the food was even good!

Dave Haus gave a talk on Friday night. One of the things he talked about is what we need in order to fight the good fight. One of the things he said was courage, and I’ll never forget how he defined just what that is:

“Courage is acting when success is not certain and sacrifice is necessary.”

Nav Spring Conference ‘04

So in about 15 minutes I’m leaving to go to the Navigator Spring Conference in Leesburg, FL. Wait, no, they don’t call them conferences anymore, that’s too stuffy. Now they call them “collegiate gatherings” in the hopes more people will come.

It should be a lot of fun. Last year wasn’t as fun, but this year I actually know a lot of the Navs from other schools, so I’m looking forward to seeing them. The theme is spiritual warfare.

Monday I have a test in my Buddhist Tradition class. Somehow, studying Buddhism either before, during, or after a Christian conference seems a little wrong. I think I’m going to put off my studying until I get back on Sunday afternoon and just hope for the best.

Creative

Quote of the day: “I don’t know if any of you have ever been creative, but…” — Professor David Kangas, my Religion & Its Critics teacher. He was in the middle of his lecture on…. something and this was a lead-in to one of the points he was about to make. Yeah, prof, there’s a few people in this room who, in the their entire life, have never been creative.

Not much else of consequence today. Oh, Kiefer Sullivan is a stud. I heart 24.
