[Just to clarify, after writing this I realized that I wrote it for me, not for my readers (not that I have any readers). I guess I could have made it a private entry, but who does that?]
Am I old?
Seriously, am I? I’ve been getting emails and IMs and phone calls and face-to-face comments from people who know that I turn 20 this Saturday that would indicate that I must have one foot in the grave.

Last night’s Remix was hot! I mean literally, the AC didn’t work too well. But it was hot too! We played somewhere around 16 songs (and only messed up on one). We had about 30 people show up in the Wesley small chapel (and hopefully none at the Union amphitheater where we originally told them to go), and rocked their socks off.
I have a new favorite song by our band: More Love, More Power. We made that song come alive last night. I forgot how to play the bass line, so I made up some weirdness. And it sounded good! Scottie B did his thing on his electric all night. He’s got some talent, let me tell you.
But the best thing about last night was to look out every now and then (I go into my own little world when I play bass, not something I do when I play piano or guitar) and see people worshiping. You have to understand, I do this every week of the school year. I am always up front during the Nav worship. I can always see what people are doing. And usually it’s the same old story: they’ll be singing, with their hands in their pockets, looking around at other people, or the band, or the ceiling, or their nails, or whatever. It becomes ritualistic for a lot of people. Something that we do before announcements and Dave’s talk. But last night, when the focus was on worship through song, you saw people get down on their knees and worship. Maybe it was the change in location. Being in the dorm where someone could see you might be intimidating for a lot of people. Being in a chapel might have been just what we needed.
Now I’m finally excited about Rez Week. I’ve been excited in theory for a while now. But now my heart is excited. This was just a taste of what that whole week will be like.
I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted something. Truth is that nothing much is happening. I’m still sick, although I’m doing better. I’ve lost my voice though. Haven’t had it in about 4 days. I went to Thagard (medical center on campus) and they gave me some drugs. They also said that my taking NyQuil was probably making it worse. Great. As a result of being sick I think I’m skipping the prayer retreat. I’m going to try to tough out the Remix tonight.
Since I thought this weekend would be all scheduled up I have plenty of time on my hands. I think I’ll end up reading more of Brave New World. It’s for my last paper of the year.
I’ll be sure to let you know how the Remix goes to tonight.
Hurray for being sick!
I’ve got some dang virus or the flu or something. Every muscle in my body hurts. My sinuses are going bananas. My throat is killing me. I would take my temperature, but I keep taking Advil before I remember to do so. I feel like I have a fever, but I don’t know it for a fact.
On the plus side, I made two new friends. Their names are NyQuil and NCAA Tournament basketball. They’ve given me the will to live through the weekend.
Everyone who told me that I was an idiot for taking a job with Night Staff needs to read this.
You were right.

Ugh. So today’s the big day when I start my new job. Now that I think about it this was the best day of the week to start, since tomorrow I have no classes. On both of my other days that I work (Sunday and Tuesday) I have classes the following day (although they start at 3:35). This way I’ll be able to come home and crash. I might just skip Friday completely. That’s probably not a good idea though, since I won’t have that luxury the next two times I work. Tonight I get to shadow someone else, so it won’t be as difficult for me.

So I made it back to Florida in one piece on Saturday, and now I’m getting ready to go back to class. I don’t have my first one until 3:35, and usually that would mean that I would be sleeping until about 2:00 or so, but this morning I had a job interview for FSU Night Staff. I got the job. I just need to fill out some additional paperwork, then shadow someone for a night, and after that I’ll be a regular.
And then I’ll die.

If any of you are interested in seeing what I’ve been up to this past week, the final product is up and running on eBay as we speak (is “as we speak” the proper term when writing in a blog?). The address is: http://stores.ebay.com/knobsnends
I’m really tired. I’m not sleepy tired, just physically tired. I feel out of shape too. It’s like this. I’ve been on my feet all day today and yesterday, so my legs and my back ache. But I haven’t done much else, so I feel like I’ve got a ’secretary spread’ happening. It’s pretty gross, but it’s probably all in my head. Either that or it’s all in my gut.
If this job has taught me anything so far it’s that I will never be able to work a 9 to 5 desk job. It’s too boring and stressful all at the same time. What I’m doing I find unappealing and slow, but there’s a lot on the line for my aunt and uncle here, so there’s stress there too.

It’s been an awfully long time since I last posted something here. I have begun my spring break, and I’m spending it in Michigan. Hey, listen, when you live in Florida, going to Florida for spring break is not that appealing, especially when you’ve lived there for 18 of your nearly 20 years.
Actually I’m having a lot of fun up here. I’m living with my aunt and her two boys. My uncle is out of town on business right now, but he should be back by the middle of the week. My two cousins are Bo, who is 13, and Jeff, who is 11. They’re a lot of fun. I’m one of their oldest cousins, so they think the world of me. I can’t say I don’t enjoy that.
Both of them are musicians too. Bo plays trombone and Jeff plays trumpet. They’re actually pretty good for beginner band students.
