Right now I’m typing my take-home final for Religion, Ethics & Medicine. It’s not too hard, but it’s still going to take me a while to finish.
Last night was the infamous Milk Chug Challenge at Camp Special. It was Mike vs Sweet Joe vs Scott P Moriak. Scott was about halfway through when he realized he had bought generic Yoo Hoo instead of chocolate milk. Joe got about that far with his 2% milk and threw up. Mike got within about a pint on his skim milk when he couldn’t take it anymore. He barfed too. Ah, such fun.

I would have written more this week if it weren’t such a dull boring week. I hate exam weeks. Not only are you being tested on everything under the sun and then some, everyone has a weird schedule, so no one wants to do anything.
Today I picked up my passport and made all the necessary photo copies. I have to mail all that jazz to my mom before I leave. It still feels like I’m forgetting to do something, but I think I’ve got everything under control.
The one thing that could cause some problems is that I don’t have anyone to go shopping with at the moment. I guess I could walk to some of the places if I had to, but none of them are really all that close. We’ll see. I’m sure something will work out.

The milk challenge is just the beginning of the fun tonight. We’re also going to throw Suzanne into the fountain. Her birthday is on Sunday and she thinks she’s going to get out of her turn to get wet but she’s got another thing coming. I don’t think she suspects a thing.
So it’s after 9 PM and I’ve completed only three pages of my Buddhism paper. That might sound like a lot when it only needs to be 5-8 pages (I’m shooting for a solid 6) but the final 3 or so will be tough. It’s all stuff that I didn’t read. It’s comparing Buddhism in India to other parts of Asia and America. So I’m in trouble. I’ll be up the better part of the night pulling this one together.
So just to recap on the events of Friday afternoon, evening, and the longest Saturday ever…
We didn’t get the purchase order. The SGA treasurer never came in on Friday. Jerk. But I’m not bitter. Well, I was on Friday, but not today. So at about 6 PM Tasha and I go to Sam’s club and Publix, spending about $100 on the bare minimum of what we’d need. Burgers, hot dogs, buns, chips, powdered drink, some veggies to go on the burgers, and some dessert items. We didn’t want to spend too much money, and we were just hoping that what we got would be enough to feed all who came.

So why is today insane? Let me count the ways…
On Wednesday the Navs got a $400 transfer request approved by the university to move funds into our food account. Only problem is that the Student Government treasurer hasn’t signed off his approval of our purchase order yet. He’s supposed to come in today sometime this afternoon. I just called about 5 minutes ago and he has still yet to show up however.

I got to hang out with the Joel Helms today. From 10 AM to noon I was a very happy man. I haven’t seen him since February at the Spring Conference. It was cool just to talk to him and find out what he’d been up to. He wanted to know everything I’d been doing, which is a rarity from anyone these days. Most people just want to tell people what they’re doing, not take the time to listen to see what’s up with everyone else. It seems his time in Costa Rica was productive. He knows Spanish much better than he did. His confidence is higher, which is the most important thing. He’ll only be here for about 3 1/2 more weeks, then his mission to Argentina begins. I’m really excited for him.

So how many of you have heard of the new movie Godsend? It’s basically about cloning and some of its potential repercussions. In my Religion, Ethics & Medicine my prof told me about this site designed to promote that movie that is basically a phony cloning site. It’s pretty cool because never on the site do they mention the movie. They’re really trying to sell the fact that they’re a real cloning industry. My prof also mentioned that the people behind this site were interviewed on NPR and they said that they have been receiving hundreds of calls from people interested in their services. The site address is:

Go check it out.
As promised, the Rez Week songs have been uploaded onto the Wesley website. Just go to http://fsuwesley.com/music.htm and click on Rez Week 2004 Music Site. There are two Nav tracks up there. I wish they had put up How Deep The Father’s Love, but what’re ya gonna do? They haven’t posted up the sermons yet, but as soon as they do I’ll let you know.
Quote of the day: “If that were the case they would have to sterilize all of us.” — Professor Aline Kalbian, a comment she made during her lecture on eugenics, whether people who are disabled should be permitted to reproduce (or if they should be sterilized to prevent them from doing so), and how determining just what qualifies as ‘disabled’ is dependent on the society defining that characteristic
So this morning/early afternoon I will write the last paper ever for Religion & Its Critics. This may sound insignificant, but let me tell you, after reading Schleiermacher, Feuerbach, Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud, this is a major victory. My final exam is a week from today, the week before the official exam week begins. I’ll be glad to get this one out of the way early.
