So last night there was an altercation on my floor. But that’s not the best part. It was all caught on tape. And I’m bringing it your way exclusively. This is must see TV people!

So it’s been a while since I’ve managed to post something up here. I’ve been awfully busy with Rez Week the last few days. I’ll try to recount Wednesday through Friday as best I can. Prepare yourself for a short book.
Wednesday was a tough day. I had to make it through a Macroeconomics test before that night’s corporate worship time. The first two tests in that class were really easy. This test was really hard. I have no idea how well I did on it. The only test left is the final. I know exactly what I need to go study for the final. I’ll probably go into my prof’s office during office hours to get some of these things worked out.
So finally I arrive at Rez Week. It had been a long time coming. Wednesday night was the Nav praise band’s night to play. We did okay. We messed up royally on Better Is One Day, but nailed More Love More Power like we did at the A.C.T.S. of Worship. I think we had to cut our second set short by a couple of songs, which was sad. Two more additional notes of interest (no pun intended): Scott P Moriak was playing on a full drum set for only the 11th time in his life, and did a great job as usual. And Will decided to not look at his music. He changed what key Here I Am To Worship was in (from D to E) and changed the progression in You Alone (from G-Bm-C to G-Bm-D). Scott Beasley and I were the only ones to notice the change in You Alone, and we were having a good laugh about it up there.

It’s a short film staring Jerry Seinfeld and Superman. It’s not bad, I must say.
I got my housing assignment today. I have one out of three of the roommates that I wanted. Which is about what I was expecting. Scott P Moriak and I had the highest priority numbers, and we are currently roommates in McCollum. Will didn’t have time to check his box today (or at least not yet today) so we won’t hear where he got put until tomorrow probably. And of course Joe won’t hear where he’s living until June or something. But it’s good to know we’re halfway there. Team Win, if all goes according to plan, will be living in McCollum room 102 next year.
I almost forgot that I need to get on record for which baseball teams are going to do what this year. Here are my division and wild card winners:
National League
East - Marlins
Central - Cubs
West - Dodgers
Wild Card - Astros
American Leauge
East - Red Sox
Central - Twins
West - Angels
Wild Card - Yankees
It’s hard for me to think of anyone but the Marlins winning the Series again this year, but if I had to look at teams on paper instead of with my heart I’d probably call a Cubs/BoSox World Series this year. (But who really wants that to happen? Someone will be more heartbroken than ever because the other team will have finally found peace. It’s my opinion that if this series happened it would go 7 games, but before the end of the game the world would end.) But it could be just as likely that it’s a rematch of last year’s series. I don’t know, but anyway, these are my picks.
So yes, I was thrown into Westcott last night. Actually it was this morning. I didn’t go without a fight though. I got my foot caught in Kyle’s shirt pocket and ripped his shirt off his body. We’re still finding the buttons in our room.
I’m telling you, I could have taken them if Rob wasn’t there. He’s a BEAST. Kyle, Andy, and Bob I could have beaten up. Rob’s got too much upper body strength. He just rapped his arms around my waist and I’m done.
So how’d I spend my birthday? Well it began at midnight and went to 3:30 AM, much of that time playing Halo. Mostly because I don’t have the guile to kick out a house guest, even if it is in the middle of the night. I had to wake up at 8 AM to go to worship team practice, which normally is enjoyable, but the what 4 1/2 hours of sleep thing made me pretty testy. I bit Rob’s head off over nothing a couple of times. Just one of those mornings. I came home at around 2:30 PM after hanging out over at Camp Special doing nothing much at all from about noon on. After grabbing a bite to eat I read the Cliffs Notes for Brave New World. I have to say I really wasn’t too impressed, but it wasn’t the real book, so I can’t say I really know what happened. I finished that up at about 6:30. I came home to find Bob (who I’ve now seen on consecutive days for the first time in almost a year), Kyle, and Andy watching the OSU/GT game. So I think I may do some typing tonight for this Brave New World paper that’s due on Tuesday. Or maybe I’ll read some Freud for Religion & Its Critics. I don’t know. None of this is how I planned my 20th birthday. That’s not true. I didn’t make any plans. But this isn’t how I had envisioned this day progressing.
I’m 20 years old.
I’ve been trying to wrap my mind around that thought. I’ve been on this planet for 20 years. Two decades. One-fifth of a century. One-third of my dad’s lifetime. I’m not sure I can really grasp the passage of time.
This morning I went to the Union and talked with Jeff and Karen Vandenburg. They’re Nav staff that have recently finished their internship training at USF. Now they’re looking at coming either to FSU or University of Wisconsin-Madison. After talking to them and answering their questions I can tell you that I want them here. They asked me stuff like how Navs had changed me and what I thought was best about the Navs here vs other ministries and how things could be improved. They’re great people. I know it’s selfish, but I do hope they come here very much. Ever since Joel left it just seems like there needs to be some new blood in the leadership of the Navs here at FSU.
Yay for birthday presents! I got a package from my momma today (well, from my mom, dad and sister, but you know it was my mom that put the effort into it). I got brownies (yay for no dilantin!) and a portable CD player (at least until I kill it). It’s one of those MP3 ones too, so I can take one or two CDs with me to Europe and have hours of music.
And my Nana sent me a card. And let me tell you, this is a big deal. Usually it’s a card and a check and a “Love, Nana” at the bottom. This year she wrote a note in there. A note! That’s huge! I was so pumped by that you can’t even imagine.
