Paris

Hey hey hey. Guess who’s in Paris? That’s right, one more dorky American tourist.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. First I’ve got to tell you about moving out of Salley Hall. What a pain. I can’t believe that it took as long as it did. Andy and I did most of what we needed to do that morning. We filled up Andy’s car and JD’s van to the very brim. We put all of my junk into storage, which didn’t take too long at all since we had a cart that we could load up. After loading up, we went over to the Landon’s apartment for a quick graduation party. It was good to see Kyle, Joe, Theresa, Rachofel, and Suz one last time.

After a couple more trips Andy drove me to the airport. I got on the airplane without a hitch, but from then on was full of hitches. There was a computer virus going throughout Atlanta’s airport that was messing up everything. I sat on the ground in Tallahassee for an extra two hours. I missed my connection in Atlanta. I did manage to get on another flight that was leaving a couple hours later.

I have to say the flight really wasn’t that bad. I slept a bunch and listened to my music a bunch. I sat on an aisle seat, and there wasn’t anyone sitting directly next to me. I flew on a 777 (biggest airplane I’ve ever been on, narrowly beating out the L1011). This is a big deal because not even my dad has been on one of these. He’s jealous.

So I arrived in Paris and got my bag. Wait a minute… I checked two bags! So now I have to figure out what to do. Since it’s an international flight I can’t go find my family first because I’d have to go through customs. Well, “customs” is a sliding door. I went through it without even knowing. So I try to go back through and half the French military is on my butt. They let me through and I finally find who I want to talk to. They say they don’t know where it is but that they’ll look for it.

Before we went home we took a spin into the heart of Paris. We got up close to the Arc de Triumph and to that obelisk they brought in from Egypt. I got some good pictures, but I have to say I was pretty tired. It was time to get some sleep.

So it wasn’t a very long drive to where my aunt and uncle live. They’ve got a cute little house just south of Paris. I’m staying in my cousin Brad’s room. It’s pretty cool being back in a young boy’s room with all the cartoon posters etc.

I went to sleep at about 5 PM local time (which is 11 AM EST). I slept straight until noon local time today. Booyeah! After a quick bite to eat my aunt and I went back into Paris. We went to Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. It was a beautiful day to be outside here. It was a lot of walking, and I’m glad to be off my feet now, but it was a great day of sightseeing.

The rest of the family, my uncle, cousins, and grandma, came into the city and was all had dinner together. Now, you might think we went to some great French place, but the twins don’t like French food. So, we went to Planet Hollywood. LOL. Oh well. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t envision my first meal outside the U.S. being at an American restaurant.

Now I’m back at my aunt and uncle’s house. It’s a little after midnight here, so I’m starting to get pretty tired. I’ve got a new prayer request for you. I think I’m starting to come down with something. All that recycled air did me in. It’s a sinus thing and it came with a soar throat. All of my good medicine is in the suitcase that’s lost (by the way, they found it, it just hasn’t arrived). It’s got me dragging a bit, so if you could pray that I’ll get healthy soon I’d appreciate it.

Tomorrow I’m off to Versailles. Should be another great day in Paris. I’ll let you know all about it.
