Finally, after more than two month of waiting, I heard a real sermon today. Pastor Tom preached on fellowship, which is ironic because that’s what I learned about most while in Italy (when I had no fellowship at all). He did a good job. I’m not sure any sermon could have been worth the wait, but his was pretty close. He was particularly adamant about welcoming others, even those who you’re uncomfortable around. He used the example of the kids who were at VBS this past week. This was a sermon I needed to hear for what I’m going to be doing for the next month. I’m sure I’m going to run into kids I’d rather ship home than deal with.
What else is happening on this Independence Day? Nothing I don’t think. We’re not going anywhere, no one’s coming to visit us. Heck, I don’t even think we’re going to be grilling anything today. We’re acting very unpatriotically this weekend I guess.
I have to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to go to a leadership meeting for UM Army. Something needs to get me excited about this thing, because right now I’m not pumped about it at all.
