I realize that I haven’t talked much about what I’ve been doing lately, which is surprising because I had a really good week last week. Here’s all that I can remember.
Even though I wrote about my A-Team leader responsibilities coming to an end as of last Tuesday I did have a couple of left over things that needed to be taken care of before it was all said and done. The first thing was going to the SAC Budget Request Hearing. I had been to one of these just about a month earlier for an emergency request (of which we were given nothing). I had also been once before last fall, so I was feeling pretty confident in my abilities. And I can tell you that I really think we knocked ‘em dead (we being Jon, Ross, and myself). As much as I hate the university (and I still do, mind you) they were actually might do what I want them to do for once.
Then the next day I had to make sure we had the Union Ballroom reserved and ready to go for the Nav Night of Worship that was going to be held there. What I didn’t know is that there is a difference between the Ballroom and the State Room. And technicially it’s all the same room; the different rooms are made with those temporary dividers. But the whole time I thought we were in the State Room with no chairs set up, when actually we had the Ballroom with lots of chairs set up. Well, since there was no one using the State Room we just started setting up there. Eventually an official type person came by and they said we could use it. The best thing about this is we were able to use the sound system in there, so our vocal mix was the best it’s ever been.
Part of the evening was sad because it was the last time Scott Beasley would be play guitar in the band. His real band (and trust me when I say that the Nav praise band, as much as I love it, is not a real band) is going on tour soon. He wants me to come with and be his keyboardist.
It’s too bad I’m sensible because it sounds like a lot of fun.
Friday was Kim’s 19th birthday (so she’s not quite old yet) and she was thrown in the fountain. Good times. Good wet times.
Saturday FSU lost to UF 20-13. Jon told me last week that UF hadn’t scored less than 20 all season and that that trend would continue. That’s why Jon is going to be one heck of a sports writer/sports talk radio personality soon. As for the game, I was hoping for more from Sexton. We got the very best from Rix, he just wasn’t in the game long enough.
And so after an uneventful Sunday I am beginning yet another week here at FSU. Thankfully it’s a short week and I’ll be on Thanksgiving holiday soon.
