Quote of the Day: “You were killing out of your love for God.” — Inese Radzins, my Christian Tradition professor, explaining the rationale behind the crusades
I’m surprised it’s been a week since my last post. I should probably close the book on that last post. The good news is that I’m not pissed off anymore. The bad news is the bug I was coming down with turned into a real mother of a cold. I ended up losing my voice for a few days. At this point I’m feeling much better, with just a little runny nose and a hacky cough left. I still haven’t gotten that Spanish test back, but as for the Religion & Science midterm: 83%. That’s about what I thought I’d get. I ended up getting one of the ones right that I thought I missed, but unfortunately I was right about the rest (right about them being wrong, if that makes any sense).
On Monday morning my good buddy Jason went in for surgery for testicular cancer. From what I’ve been told it was a success, but I’ve yet to talk to him myself since the operation. He’s in Orlando with his mom right now but should be back in Tallahasse soon. If you could all be praying for him I know he’d appreciate it.

Quote of the Day: “Hamburgers are in bed with too much ambiguity.” — The result of my Organizational Behavior class playing a game of telephone to illustrate how information is lost in an all-channels communication network. The original message was, “Rumors arise when issues are important to us, ambiguous and arouse anxiety.”
I’ve got a long post for you today. I’ve had a lot going on the past few days, but first I want to give a little recap on Reconciliation Week like I promised.
Reconciliation Week ended on Saturday. To clue you in to what it’s all about, every year here at FSU for the past five years now we’ve had this thing called Resurrection Week. The past four years it’s been during Holy Week (the week before Easter) and it’s been a time for all the various campus ministries to come together, to be united.

I want to talk about hockey for a minute. It’s not something I do that much but just bear with me. As you may know, the NHL has had a lockout and has not been playing this season. Supposedly the drop-dead date (the date when the season will be officially cancelled if an agreement is not reached) is this weekend.
But get this: if an agreement is somehow reached (as unlikely as that is) the NHL will play a 28-game regular season and will keep their usual 16-team playoff format, this according to an article on ESPN.com.

So the Pats didn’t quite destroy the Eagles like I thought they would but they got the win. That means I personally went 5-4 in the postseason, narrowly avoiding my first set of pro postseason predictions under .500. But this destroys the pattern that had developed since Super Bowl XXXI. That was a bad game (Packers vs Patriots), the following year (Packers vs Broncos) was a good game. It had gone like that for eight seasons. We were due for a dud, but Philly put up a good fight. Tied after one, tied at the half, tied after three. It was much more competitive than I thought it would be.
The New England/Boston area is officially Titletown. That’s sad.

It’s going to be the Patriots, and it’s going to be a blowout. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-13.
I know I’ve been updating like crazy lately with quick posts lately but I have got to tell you about the events of this morning. Good contrast. Learned a lesson in humility. That kind of thing.
So this morning at 9:05 my Spanish class had a test on weather expressions and tu commands. I get to class early to cram a few more words into my head and the girl sitting next to me (who previously learned I was a religion major) asks me who I had for Old Testament. Well, I tell her all about Dr. Lyons and how he still is my favorite professor and that he’s a great guy outside the classroom and on and on. I then tell her that he no longer teaches here but teaches at TCC. But get this. The next thing she says is, “I bet he slept with a student. Why else would he leave here for TCC?”

Man I’ve got a lot of work to do. I’ve got a paper due tomorrow for Christian Tradition (albeit a 2-page paper) and a test tomorrow in Spanish. Yuck! The paper is on Saint Augustine and is coming along. The Spanish isn’t any fun but I guess I’ll survive. Who knows.
I think today I accidentally became a stalker. What? Okay, so I’m a Facebook addict. Every so often I search the word “Navigators” to see if any of my Nav buddies have joined recently. Well, today I search and see that my dear friend Catherine Slocum is on. Great, I’ll send her a friend request. So she says yes at some point during the day and I go check out her profile. Get this - she just became a member today. And I’m her first friend. That’s creepy. Before she had a chance to search for anyone herself someone found her. Yeah, if I were her I’d think I was a stalker. (Did that make sense? Because if I were her I wouldn’t be thinking I was a stalker, because I’d be her and not me. Get it? No? Sorry.) So I just want to go on record and say that I’m not stalking Catherine and I hope she doesn’t get any kind of crazy court order to keep me away.
