They Found My Brain

So I got plugged into a machine today. The EEG went fine. If you’ve never had one they’re a lot of fun, if by “a lot of” you mean “very” and “fun” you mean “lame.” It’s basically a four part test. Before they begin they stick about 30 sensors up to your body (most of them on your head) with this cold goop. In part one they just ask you to open and close your eyes a bunch and have you answer some lame questions (example: spell your last name backwards). Part two they asked me to hyperventilate. No really, they did. I had to breath in and out quickly for three minutes. Part three is the best part because they ask you to go to sleep, and after staying up all night that wasn’t hard at all. But then they wake you up and they ask you more questions. I didn’t know one of them actually. They asked me the year and the date and who the president is and I did fine with those. But then they asked me who the governor is. I have no idea who the governor of Connecticut is. It used to be that Rowland guy until he was forced to resign. Now it’s some lady but I didn’t know her name. He then asked me who the governor of Florida was, so Jeb bailed me out. Part four of the test is where I close my eyes, they stick a strobe light in my face and they set it off at different speeds. Yeah, very fun (see previous definition). Parts two and four they’re trying to make me have a seizure. All in all it took about an hour. By the time I was done I was exhausted and starving, having been awake for about 27 straight hours and having not eaten in about 12 hours.

I just finished watching this week’s episode of 24. Lots of talking, not a whole lot of action. That should change next week though, since the last scene of this episode was a nuclear missile being launched to an unknown location. As you know I think the main problem with this season is that they are trying to do too much in one day. I now also think that there are too many characters. Remember season one? CTU only had six people with lines at any given time. You had Jack’s wife and daughter, the Palmer family and campaign, and the terrorists. In this season you CTU with 20 people, the terrorists, Jack’s relational triangle, the presidential power problem, Tony and Michelle’s relationship, Chloe and Edgar’s power struggle, the Chinese embassy wanting to start WWIII, and all these other small plot lines that might make it more true to life (because a lot of problems are going to arise in a day like this) but don’t make for good TV. I think I realized this tonight when they gave two minutes to Tony and Michelle’s relationship restoration. Out of all the goofy emotional plots they have in this season this is the only one that fans give a rip about because it involves two established characters. But because of all of the extra characters (especially Bill, who is completely useless) this hasn’t been a big issue. They’ve got two more episodes. I’m sure it’ll have a satisfying ending but I don’t like how they’re getting there.

I know putting up a second sci-fi quiz in the last four posts is turning up my nerd quotient significantly (though if you really knew me you might expect this out of me) but everyone loves Spock so I figured I could take the risk.

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?
