Leading Off – The good news is that next fall Florida State Navs will indeed have a full EDGE Corps team (assuming, of course, they raise the necessary support). This is great news for the ministry, and I’m really excited about what all God is going to do through them. The bad news is that this probably means I will be living either by myself or with people I don’t know this fall (assuming, of course, I return to Tallahassee).
No Room In The Inn – Allow me to paint you a picture. Dave, the Nav head staff, owns two houses and a duplex that he rents out to students. The original idea was to have half of the duplex with the EDGE men and the other half with other guys who needed a place to live. I would have probably been one of those guys, since the other two houses are full and because I would like to live in one of these heralded communities. The EDGE women were going to live with an alumni who last year was prepared to house them when we thought we were getting a team then. A couple of weeks ago something changed. Either this alumni changed her mind due to some set of circumstances or maybe Dave only assumed the women would be living with her instead of solidifying a strong confirmation. I don’t know, and it’s really a moot point. The bottom line is the EDGE women will be living on the other side of the duplex. Which is actually a pretty cool ministry setup, having the whole team live in the same complex. But it does leave me without a place to live in the fall. Don’t misunderstand – I never signed a lease or anything. There was just an understanding that if there were a place available that I would probably be the one to fill it. So now, even if I do manage to find a job in Tallahassee, my next struggle will be to find a place to live.
