Introducing Rett

Leading Off - I’d wish you a happy Halloween, but I’ve decided that I don’t really like this holiday anymore. Too much sketchy stuff happens on this night, witchcraft and the like, that’s diametrically opposed to my beliefs for me to really be on board with Halloween. That, and I won’t even be around Tallahassee to “celebrate” this year.

Elder Affairs - This afternoon I’ll be leaving on my first business trip, with this job or with any other job, to go to Tampa for a SHINE leadership meeting. Tomorrow I actually get to say a few things in front of everyone. Granted I’ll be up front for all of about twenty minutes, but it makes me feel like I’m going for a reason rather than just because I can. I’m trying to decide whether I’m excited about this trip or if I’m dreading it. It certainly will be a nice change of pace from data entry, but I do enjoy coming home to my own house and sleeping in my own bed. I guess it’ll be nice to have the company pay for everything for a couple of days. Money has been a little tighter than usual lately so this trip is a blessing in that regard.

Introducing Rett - On October 26 my cousin Kim gave birth to her first child, a son, named Everett Morgan Long. They’re planning on calling him Rett. He’s 6 pounds, 8 ounces and 21 inches long. The whole family has been really excited about this for months now. This is my grandmother’s first great-grandchild, so you can imagine how much she’s been into the baby craze. I think I’m going to get a chance to meet him over Thanksgiving.

Baseball - The Cardinals won the World Series. Yawn. I actually fell asleep during game five. I woke up to find St. Louis celebrating in their locker room. I’m only assuming they won.

FSU Football - Please. I’m not even going to bother. We’re terrible. Don’t get me started. The only reason we haven’t been this bad before now is because the rest of the ACC hadn’t gotten any good. Now that they’re improving we’re in trouble.

The rest - I’ve heard through the grapevine that there’s a Nav worship night this Thursday night. I’ll be back just in time for that. And this Sunday at my church (Wesley) a Christian poet named Bradley Hathaway will be performing at 7 PM. I heard a clip of him this past Sunday at church and he sounds wicked sick. I’m probably going to check him out. If anyone else is interested let me know and we can go as a group.
