Extended Absense

Yesterday was my last day in the office until 2009! No, I don’t have an enormous vacation coming up, but by all appearances it may seem that way. I scored one of the best deals ever. I will be teleworking starting Monday all the way through Christmas Eve. After that I will be on vacation, since all FSU employees are given December 25 through January 2 off.

How did the telework come about? Well, the building I work in will be receiving some maintenance over the next couple of weeks. They won’t be closing the building, but they won’t be running the heat either. So my boss is letting us all telework instead.

Furthermore, the conditions of my telework are simply that I must have access to a phone and Internet connection. That opened up a lot of options, so I’ve decided to leave Florida for the rest of the month. Today I’m driving to the Jacksonville Airport with my parents, who were in Florida to celebrate my grandmother’s 92nd birthday. From tonight through December 21 I’ll be in Missouri visiting my grandmother (my other grandmother), followed by a trip to Connecticut to see my parents and sister which will last from December 21 through January 3.

If you are in either of these locations and want to see me be sure to let me know and we’ll see what we can put together. I’ll have all kinds of flexibility after Christmas. Before that I’ll be on the clock during the day, but my evenings will be free.
