I’ve made it back from Berlin! Actually, I made it back Monday night but neglected to post about it until now. It’s been a long week already. Monday was my travel day. I woke up at 5:30 am in Berlin (which was actually 11:30 pm Sunday on the east coast of the United States), had a full day of travel that included three plane rides, and landed in Tallahassee at 7:15 pm. And I still wasn’t done because I had to report a lost bag before going home. I finally went to bed at 10:00 pm, completing my 22 1/2 hour day.
And there was no rest for the weary. I used all my vacation going to Berlin, so Tuesday morning I had to get up and go to work. Yuck! It was good to see my coworkers, but it took a lot of caffeine to make it through the day. Today I’m still experiencing the effects of jet lag. I have afternoon meetings today and tomorrow in which I have to look and sound intelligent, so please me praying for me.
Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be updating my blog (as well as various social media sites) with stories, photos, and videos from the trip. You’ll be able to see my photos and videos on Facebook if you’re my friend there. If not, you’ll be able to check out my photos on Flickr and my videos on YouTube.

Hello from Berlin!
It’s been a lot harder to get Internet access than I thought it would be. Not because it doesn’t exist, but because free time is at a premium. This evening there wasn’t anything on our agenda, so I thought I’d let you know a few details about my trip so far.
In case you’ve ever wondered, this is what jet lag looks like.

Actually, we had a bit of a scare on the way here. Our flight from Charlotte to Munich had a little hiccup. The captain came on the loudspeaker about an hour or two into the flight and asked if there was a doctor aboard. Later, he came on saying our disembarking would be delayed because one passenger was exhibiting swine flu symptoms. They said to expect a major delay. But we ended up not having barely any delay at all on the ground. Praise God! But that was not the last of our traveling troubles. When we arrived in Berlin they could not open the baggage door on the plane, so all the checked bags were stuck there. I know, it was really bizzare. Thankfully for me, I packed all my things in carry-on bags.

I can’t believe it’s already time, but today I am traveling to Germany to be a part of a team of people teaching English to children at a week-long day camp. As I write this I’m all packed up and just pulling together last second loose ends. I was even able to pack such that I won’t be checking a bag on the way there, something I was really hoping I’d be able to do.
Longtime readers of this blog know that I first started blogging because I wanted to write about my experiences overseas. I hope once again to blog some of my experiences while I’m in Germany and blog about them in more detail when I get back home. I’m going to use a service called Posterous while I’m abroad. Using this I’ll be able to update my blog and post content to social media sites all through email without ever having to log in to those sites. (Side note: You really ought to check out Posterous. I think so highly of it that I’ve already added a “Share on Posterous” link to the bottom of all my blog’s posts and pages.) So, keep your eyes on my site for some fun stuff. UPDATE: Actually, I ended up not using Posterous while on this trip. But I still recommend it.
