I can’t believe it’s already time, but today I am traveling to Germany to be a part of a team of people teaching English to children at a week-long day camp. As I write this I’m all packed up and just pulling together last second loose ends. I was even able to pack such that I won’t be checking a bag on the way there, something I was really hoping I’d be able to do.
Longtime readers of this blog know that I first started blogging because I wanted to write about my experiences overseas. I hope once again to blog some of my experiences while I’m in Germany and blog about them in more detail when I get back home. I’m going to use a service called Posterous while I’m abroad. Using this I’ll be able to update my blog and post content to social media sites all through email without ever having to log in to those sites. (Side note: You really ought to check out Posterous. I think so highly of it that I’ve already added a “Share on Posterous” link to the bottom of all my blog’s posts and pages.) So, keep your eyes on my site for some fun stuff. UPDATE: Actually, I ended up not using Posterous while on this trip. But I still recommend it.
Please be praying for me and the rest of the team. Travel is tough, especially when you cross the Atlantic. Pray for our safety and our strength, that God would bless us with both. As soon as we get to Germany we’ll begin our training. There will literally be no rest for the weary. The English camp itself starts on Monday and runs for six days. Pray for the kids I’ll be tutoring and for the overall smooth operation of the camp. Lastly, pray for my own spiritual development. Pray that I’d come back with a new heart for the nations.
If you’re curious, I did reach my personal funding goal. Thank you so much! However, the team as a whole is about $3700 short (as of Sunday morning). If you’d like to help out the team, send a check made out of Wildwood Church to 100 Ox Bottom Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32312. On the “For” line write “Germany Mission Trip.”
I will not be checking my Facebook, Twitter or any other social network site while in Germany; only my email. I also won’t have a phone, so email is really your only option if you’d like to reach me. I’ll try to respond in a reasonable amount of time, but I can’t promise anything.
I sincerely thank you for everything! I’m really excited to go on this adventure and to share some of it with you. Auf wiedersehen!
