Scrubs Season Eight

Last night was the season premiere for Scrubs, now in its eighth season and now on ABC. Since this is one of my favorite shows I’m going to be a little self-indulgent and share with you some links, including some spoiler clips from upcoming episodes. UPDATE: Both of the videos in this post are from episodes that have now aired.

My Recent Vacations

Due to a fantastic set of circumstances I was out of the state of Florida for three whole weeks, finally returning to Tallahassee on January 3. For the first week I was in Missouri and for the following two weeks I was in Connecticut. I also took an unintended vacation from the blogosphere, which I’ll address at the end.

Adding Facebook Connect to my Blog

UPDATE: February 25, 2009: I’ve disabled Facebook Connect due to some instability it was causing on my site. I don’t intend to reactivate it for the foreseeable future. You can still comment on blog posts using the Facebook integration in the IntenseDebate commenting system.
UPDATE: June 2, 2011: At present you cannot comment on blog posts using your Facebook credentials. The IntenseDebate login was interfering with the Like/Send button.

I’m happy to say that as of today I’ve implemented Facebook Connect on my website. This is part of Facebook’s attempt to further take over the Internet, and I’m happy to help them out. You can now use your Facebook login to leave comments on my website. It’s a pretty cool idea on the part of Facebook, since no one likes to have to sign up for yet another website account. Let me walk you through what the process will look like on my site.

Google Street View Found My House

This morning my roommate alerted me to the fact that our house, formerly known as Camp Special and yet-to-be renamed, is now on Google Street View. Rather than give you a link to Google — and thereby reveal my home address to the entire planet — I’ve taken a screen shot. [Here's a larger resolution.] It’s not a bad picture. It was taken before my roommates and I moved in (none of those cars are ours).

Extended Absense

Yesterday was my last day in the office until 2009! No, I don’t have an enormous vacation coming up, but by all appearances it may seem that way. I scored one of the best deals ever. I will be teleworking starting Monday all the way through Christmas Eve. After that I will be on vacation, since all FSU employees are given December 25 through January 2 off.

My MacBook Pro

Not long ago I wrote about my very first purchase from the Apple Store. A little more than six weeks ago I bought toy number two: a brand new MacBook Pro.

Blogging Goals for 2009

Today I read an article on Daily Blog Tips entitled What Are Your Internet Goals for 2009? Group Writing Project. The timing was perfect. Just yesterday I was thinking about the direction my site is taking and what I hope to accomplish with it in the future. I’ve been blogging for almost five years. When I first started it was to have a place to write about my experiences while studying abroad. But since then I’ve branched out and it’s become one of my favorite hobbies.

So, this post will be my entry into that writing project. But before I list out my goals I’d like to take a close look at where I believe my site is missing the mark and why that might be.

Free Online Data Backup at Mozy.com!

MozyI write this to all of my regular readers, but especially to all you college students who will see this out on Facebook. The information in this post could save your life. Or your sanity, at least. I’m encouraging everyone to backup your important files today, especially with the end of the semester coming up. You do not want to find yourself in a situation where you have to start that 10-page paper all over again. Do yourself a favor and read what I have to say about Mozy, a free online data backup service.

Link Log: November 2008

This is something new I’m trying out here at jaledwith.com. I have accounts at multiple different social networks and link sharing sites. But I’ve started to realize that not many people out there probably know that I’m sharing tons of links each and every month! So, in order to attract some attention to my sharing activities I’m going to post a list of all such links at the end of each month. They’ll be organized by the service with which I used to share them, then by date. The links in bold are ones I consider must-reads.

24: Redemption

Last night marked the return of Jack Bauer. I wouldn’t call the two-hour movie a must-see, both because it’s a stand-alone story and because the plot lacked creativity. But it has Jack killing bad guys, so if you’ve been going through withdrawals for his mayhem this should help. Watch 24: Redemption over on Hulu and let me know what you think of it in the comments. EDIT: It’s no longer on Hulu, but you can buy it on Amazon.
