Exams & Christmas Party

I looked at the date of my last post and I’m just now starting to realize how much happened since then. Hopefully I can do it justice.

But before I launch into all of that let me first say this: my sister has gotten into two schools already! Woo hoo! Auburn and Texas have both recognized greatness. I’ll continue to keep you posted on this. I’m really excited to see where she ends up (as I’m sure you all are).

Since that last post I have taken five tests and I am about to take a sixth. My finals week started early. Last week I had an oral test in Spanish and finals in Career Development, Risk Management and After The New Testament. This past Tuesday I took a written Spanish test and this afternoon I’ll be taking a final in Speech. Then I’ll be done. It’ll be t-minus one semester and counting.

A Long Night Ahead Of Me

So here’s where I stand. I’ve finished everything for Modern Italy. I still have to turn in my final paper, but the work for that class is done. I still have to study for Art History and Grand Tour tonight. My finals in both classes are tomorrow. Both will be difficult tests too. It’s going to be a long night.

Today I’ve spent basically the entire day working. I took a break at about 2 PM to get lunch and write some postcards, but other than that all I’ve done today is type. Actually, I also took some photos early in the morning. I’ve got more pictures to take, mostly of weird stuff like the hotel, the Study Center, maybe this Internet cafe. You know, everyday stuff. But most of the cool stuff in Florence I’ve taken pictures of already.

I am so tired of working. Pray that I stay awake tonight and that I get a lot of solid studying done.

Oh So Busy

So I just finished typing up a 1000 word essay on the Boboli Gardens for the Grand Tour. It really wasn’t that bad of a paper, but I didn’t really want to type it. It’s not due until Friday, but I’m leaving tomorrow afternoon for London so it needed to be finished tonight.

I managed to do well on all the rest of the work I had today too. I had a quiz in Grand Tour, a quiz in Modern Italy, and a test to finish in Modern Italy. That’s a lot of cramming! But thankfully I did well.

It turns out that today was the last Modern Italy class. Monday’s class has been canceled. There is a paper and a take-home test due on Wednesday. That might seem like a lot, but I would rather it be this way than any other way. There were rumors that the test was going to be in class and on Monday, which would mean that I’d have to be ready to take it right after my trip. The other option was that it would be on Wednesday, when I already have two other exams. So I’m happy with the arrangement.

Milk Chug Challenge

Right now I’m typing my take-home final for Religion, Ethics & Medicine. It’s not too hard, but it’s still going to take me a while to finish.

Last night was the infamous Milk Chug Challenge at Camp Special. It was Mike vs Sweet Joe vs Scott P Moriak. Scott was about halfway through when he realized he had bought generic Yoo Hoo instead of chocolate milk. Joe got about that far with his 2% milk and threw up. Mike got within about a pint on his skim milk when he couldn’t take it anymore. He barfed too. Ah, such fun.

Exam Week

I would have written more this week if it weren’t such a dull boring week. I hate exam weeks. Not only are you being tested on everything under the sun and then some, everyone has a weird schedule, so no one wants to do anything.

Today I picked up my passport and made all the necessary photo copies. I have to mail all that jazz to my mom before I leave. It still feels like I’m forgetting to do something, but I think I’ve got everything under control.

The one thing that could cause some problems is that I don’t have anyone to go shopping with at the moment. I guess I could walk to some of the places if I had to, but none of them are really all that close. We’ll see. I’m sure something will work out.

Exam Week Is Coming

I got to hang out with the Joel Helms today. From 10 AM to noon I was a very happy man. I haven’t seen him since February at the Spring Conference. It was cool just to talk to him and find out what he’d been up to. He wanted to know everything I’d been doing, which is a rarity from anyone these days. Most people just want to tell people what they’re doing, not take the time to listen to see what’s up with everyone else. It seems his time in Costa Rica was productive. He knows Spanish much better than he did. His confidence is higher, which is the most important thing. He’ll only be here for about 3 1/2 more weeks, then his mission to Argentina begins. I’m really excited for him.
