Leading Off - I miss spring break. FSU just had theirs last week and I really could have used it. Granted, my boss has been out of town for a while so my days at work have been very run-of-the-mill. That’s sort of a break, right? But I miss having a week in the middle of spring where I could sleep in and choose to do as much or as little as I wanted.
My Pseudo Spring Break - That being said, I still had a break from a lot of my normal routine. Without students in town there was no Bible study to go to, no Nav Night to attend. I could leave for work a few minutes later because traffic was nonexistent. So yeah, there were some nice perks.

This weekend was awesome and I’ll get to that but first I have an announcement. On March 17th, Jars of Clay will be giving a free concert on FSU’s Union Green! You know they’ll be playing their new stuff because their new CD will be out the week after. I ask you, how hot is that?
Okay, I’m back down to earth. This weekend we had Navs come into town from all over the state of Florida for what we were calling the Play & Pray weekend. On Friday night the whole lot of us had dinner at the Wirgau home (food grilled up by the amazing David Whitfield). Saturday started off with prayer walking the campus. After lunch we did some witnessing on the campus, which I’ll get to in detail in a minute. We ended the day with frisbee (skipped out on this due to my ever messed up shoulder) and dinner at CiCi’s. I have to admit that I didn’t think much of this event going into it; now I’m not sure why.

Quote of the Day: “You were killing out of your love for God.” — Inese Radzins, my Christian Tradition professor, explaining the rationale behind the crusades
I’m surprised it’s been a week since my last post. I should probably close the book on that last post. The good news is that I’m not pissed off anymore. The bad news is the bug I was coming down with turned into a real mother of a cold. I ended up losing my voice for a few days. At this point I’m feeling much better, with just a little runny nose and a hacky cough left. I still haven’t gotten that Spanish test back, but as for the Religion & Science midterm: 83%. That’s about what I thought I’d get. I ended up getting one of the ones right that I thought I missed, but unfortunately I was right about the rest (right about them being wrong, if that makes any sense).
On Monday morning my good buddy Jason went in for surgery for testicular cancer. From what I’ve been told it was a success, but I’ve yet to talk to him myself since the operation. He’s in Orlando with his mom right now but should be back in Tallahasse soon. If you could all be praying for him I know he’d appreciate it.

Quote of the Day: “Yeah, you can be both. We call them bipolar.” — Professor Jason Stoner, my Organizational Behavior professor, as to whether someone can have both a Type A and Type B personality
I’m sick of school right now. Which is odd because in reality I should only be sick of one class: Religion & Science. We had another pop quiz in there yesterday. I did better than last time, but that’s not saying a whole lot. But that class is bringing down my attitude across the board. And there’s no reason for it. In all three of my other classes I’m currently pulling an A (albeit with only a few grades). It sounds strange, but I can’t wait for my first test in there. It’ll pull up my grade (hopefully) and these quizzes won’t feel so important.

It’s been almost a week since I’ve posted an update. It’s been a heck of a week. I’ll go over the highlights.
I have to start with this. Halo 2 was released on Tuesday. No, I was not one of the ones who stood in line waiting until midnight to get my copy. I got mine during the day on Tuesday. I played its multiplayer for the first time on Wednesday night (I got to stay up late like I used to because there was no school on Thursday) and I beat the campaign tonight. At the moment I like the first Halo’s maps better, but I think that’s because I know where everything is on those maps. I have no idea where I’m going at the moment. I do know that I love the sword and the new Ghosts and almost all of the Covenant weapons. The game came with two free months of Xbox Live but I know that as soon as I start that I won’t get anything else done for the rest of the semester. I’m thinking I might sign up for that when I go home for Christmas break and play it in Connecticut, but until then I’m going to resist the temptation.

The last few days have been pretty crazy. Here’s a brief recap.
Tuesday I had the shortest A-Team meeting since taking over the team. I think it lasted just over 20 minutes. It’s a combination of getting good at what we do and not really having much left to plan. Later that night was a Worship Team practice where we did everything but play our instruments. It was one of those recasting the vision nights.
Wednesday was a pretty uneventful day. Sorry.
Thursday I had the usual: meet with Dave, Nav Night, and After Navs. The only thing of note here is that only two guys showed up for my small group Bible study. I’m glad those two came, but neither of them were freshmen, so I guess that’s where my disappointment lies.

I’m not even going to say it because you already know I’m a bad person. I’ll do better with the updates, I promise (again). But trust me, this week hasn’t been too eventful until the last couple of days anyway.
I’m going to skip straight to Thursday. I both met with Dave in the afternoon and he joined my S.W.A.T. team that night. I’m telling you, I need to be in the Word more and I need to memorize more scripture. I can’t believe how much this guy knows. And I know it’s not about knowledge, but I believe that’s a personal thing. In other words, it’s not about how much you know that determines your worth or whether you’re going to heaven or something like that. But to add to your own knowledge for the benefit of others I can’t see as being a bad thing, as long as it doesn’t go to your head.

Right now I’m typing my take-home final for Religion, Ethics & Medicine. It’s not too hard, but it’s still going to take me a while to finish.
Last night was the infamous Milk Chug Challenge at Camp Special. It was Mike vs Sweet Joe vs Scott P Moriak. Scott was about halfway through when he realized he had bought generic Yoo Hoo instead of chocolate milk. Joe got about that far with his 2% milk and threw up. Mike got within about a pint on his skim milk when he couldn’t take it anymore. He barfed too. Ah, such fun.

It’s been an awfully long time since I last posted something here. I have begun my spring break, and I’m spending it in Michigan. Hey, listen, when you live in Florida, going to Florida for spring break is not that appealing, especially when you’ve lived there for 18 of your nearly 20 years.
Actually I’m having a lot of fun up here. I’m living with my aunt and her two boys. My uncle is out of town on business right now, but he should be back by the middle of the week. My two cousins are Bo, who is 13, and Jeff, who is 11. They’re a lot of fun. I’m one of their oldest cousins, so they think the world of me. I can’t say I don’t enjoy that.
Both of them are musicians too. Bo plays trombone and Jeff plays trumpet. They’re actually pretty good for beginner band students.

Ugh, even more so tired. This time it wasn’t my fault. Or was it?
You see, at about 3:30 AM this morning, Allen, the guy who lives across the hall from me, knocks on my door asking if Andy and I want to play Halo. We were fast asleep. Andy was waking up at 7:50 to go help some people move. I was planning on waking up not too much later, maybe 9:00, to study for my other two midterms that are coming up this week. Well, after his little house call, short of Andy’s alarm I perceived nothing until 11 AM.
