Articles Page Fixed

To update my (very few) regular readers who actually traverse my website and don’t read these words in an RSS feed, email subscription or Facebook note, I have managed to fix the Articles page on my site. As you may recall, back over Christmas break I upgraded to WordPress 2.3.2 and ended up breaking a handful of my plugins. The Articles plugin by Alex King was one of them.

Two folks in the WP community helped me get this fixed. Andy Cowl first posted this fix on the WP support forum. But that only got me so far, since I couldn’t figure out how to apply the fix properly. But I found that Stephen Cronin had blogged about the fix over on his site. So I asked him for help and he sent me the edited file. Big props to both of you.

My Articles page still looks a little goofy (font formating) but at least it works. I encourage you to check it out. It’s where I have all of my favorite and most popular posts listed.

New FSU Navigators Website

I’m pleased to announce that the FSU Navigators have a brand new website thanks to yours truly. It was a lot of work but I have to admit I had a lot of fun designing it. It uses WordPress and K2 just like my personal site. The best part of all is that all the hosting is free! The Navigators Internet Ministries hooked us up with some free server space from Gospelcom.net. Big props to Randy Susman, Director of the Navigators Internet Ministries, for working with me for the past two months trying to get this thing up and running. We’re using the same address: fsunavigators.org. Go check it out and let me know what you think.

Pardon My Dust

I know most of my readers view my posts through Facebook, so this announcement probably doesn’t impact that many people. Nevertheless, it would be remiss of me not to mention that I have been updating my website recently. If you’re keeping score at home, I’m calling this new iteration version 4.1 beta.

It’s Here: Version 4.0

If you’ve been around me at all over the past few months you know that I’ve been excited about this day. I’ve been actively working on this project since February. I’ve been talking about it for even longer. Here it is boys and girls: version 4.0. If you’re reading this blog entry in Facebook or in your RSS feed click here and come see what I’m talking about. My website is brand-new and I want to show it off.

I don’t know what to talk about first! There’s just so much to tell you about. I guess the best place to start is with the switch in blog providers. I’m now using Wordpress instead of Xanga. This is a switch that I should have made over a year ago but never got around to putting the effort into the project. I’ve been paying for shared hosting server space without hosting my own blog, which really doesn’t make much sense. Wordpress is so much more than a blog though. It’s what people on the web call a Content Management System. My entire website goes through Wordpress. All of my old blog entries and comments came along for the ride, so if there was something from my old site you liked it’s probably here (or will be soon, in the case of some of my old photos).

A Sigh Of Relief

Ah, much better. So it seems that FreeServers was in the process of a server migration and that my site was affected by a DNS error. This is a technical way of saying that at some point as they were upgrading their stuff they screwed up. Thankfully the data wasn’t lost, just misplaced. For all the people (or person) affected by this I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Comments For Everyone!

Before I say anything let me wish Jessica Goldfin a happy birthday. She joins the ranks of the old today as she turns 20. That’s halfway to 40 you know.

Today has been a day of anticipation for me. I called up Pastor Tom early this morning to try to get the day of the youth event for the week changed to Wednesday. He’s got jury duty that day but he said it would be okay if it were alright with our hosts (part of the day we’re swimming at someone’s house). He needed to call that family up, but they both work all day so I won’t find out until tonight what the verdict is. I think I’m going to Soul Fest either way, but I don’t want to skip out on my kids.

Fully Integrated

Sometimes it’s all about keeping up with the Joneses. In this case, it’s all about keeping up with the Schwartzes. As of today my blog is now “fully integrated” (whatever that means) with the rest of my website. To many of you this is, I’m sure, the best news you’ve received all day. To others it is news that I actually have a “rest of my website” at all. In any case, I hope you enjoy the addition.

So here’s your daily housing update. Scott and I have decided to live on campus, and we’re going to be roommates. We’re attempting to switch out of McCollum Hall and into Rogers Hall. Supposedly there’s a waiting list even for Rogers, but that seems unlikely since I’ve never met anyone who really wanted to live there (it’s kind of a pit). But if you would pray that we’d get into there I would appreciate it.

Talking To Myself

So I decided to conform. I admit that there’s a part of me that never escaped being a computer dork. Much as I may try to come across as “normal” nowadays, the truth is that I haven’t changed too much. So I see that everyone seems to have a blog where they tell the entire world their inner most secrets and so forth. I’ve used one before, but only because I had to for an English class my first year of college. But I figure that I have so much to say, and no one wants to listen to it. So maybe if they could read it. Then they’d have the option of closing the page when they got sick of me. Yeah, now I see the appeal.
